Its cold

Sigh. Something went wonky with the ice eater controls and it failed to start. So I had to freeze my posterior off get it powered up and readjusted. Looks like the thermostat is the issue, but since it's going to be redonkulously cold all weekend I just plugged it in. LIPA is going to love me.

Found the problem... I'm out of °Fs to give:

The plot congeals...

I brought the thermostat indoors. Then brought it outdoors and plugged in a droplight.

Low (temps) and behold. Let there be light.

I also twisted it around to any angle I could think of, shook it, turned it again. The light never blinked.

Frankly I'm surprised the florescent fired up in these temps, but there it is.

So the next step in the daisy-chain of controls is the timer. Either it can't handle the cold, or it can't handle the inductive load. Either way, the thermostat goes back in the circuit. Next step, finding a heavier duty timer.

The fun, much like the cold, never seems to end.
