King's Park Bluff / Short Beach Fishing

Hi everyone, a bit newer to the north shore, primarily used to fishing in the south shore from a boat, but circumstances have changed and I am excited for the new challenge. King's Park Bluff is super close and a nearby spot I can fish after work is exactly what I am looking for. Has anyone fished here before and have any insight? I notice docks, rocks and some bends in the land, particularly around Short Beach, which could provide some calmer water for fish to hide in and wait for ambush on bait. Was thinking of giving this a try. Just curious if anyone had any input?? Thanks!

King's Park is an excellent spot. If you're fishing from shore, I would head towards the back just past the ramps there. You'll see some boats moored in there, and you can catch striped bass on both incoming and outgoing in there. It's tough to advise you when I'm not really sure what you're looking to do. Fishing back there for 50 years, and I can tell you it's a very underfished and very underrated.

Appreciate the feedback George! I am looking to have fun fishing and always looking to make fish tacos! I am assuming there would be luck with porgy. I caught a small fluke, not sure how big they will get in there. And I want to get into some stripers too. Like I said, I am newer to fishing from the shore, so I don't have a 9' + rod for surfcasting but will give it a go with what I got. I saw some rocks north of the ramps that I'd like to try this weekend for porgy. Is that about where you were saying you caught some stripers? I was debating trying for some stripers from the short beach side the following weekend, but the plan can change if you got experiences you're willing to share. If all goes well, maybe I'll invest in some surfcasting gear.

I pulled a few keeper fluke there this year. But I haven't been out in about a week. The last time I was out, the place was lit up with sand eels. If things hold true, which they usually do, watch the incoming night tide for Striped Bass. Traditionally, it gets good over the next couple of weeks.

I am witness to it on the south shore, first of the in and right before the top. I dropped a beauty on the fly the other day due to operator error!!
