40 years ago, when I was 10 or 12 years old,, I was supposed to go on a fishing trip with my dad and his friends out in Montauk. The night before, I had a fever and my parents did not want me to go. So upset.
Dad cought a tuna from what I remember.
Fast forward all these years later, I ran into his good friend (Billy) at the fishing docks over the last few months, and the other day he says to me, Hey Donny, I have a photo of your dad from one of our fishing trips from the 80's, its old and was in the bottom of my tackle box, its is old and faded a bit, but I will put it in my truck and give it to you for next time i see you'
Got the photo yesterday. Circa 1982ish... Wow...I still remember him in the yellow rain jacket and his stupid cowboy hat!! He was only around 35 at the time...and my hero.
That photo is now in my office window, with the box that previously held his ashes. At the bridge in Centerport that he designed as a Draftsman for the Town of Huntington.
Life comes 180 -360. I missed the charter 40 years ago, but now have the photo from it.
The circle of life I guess.
