Loving my Cape Cod Tai rod.

At first I thought it was too lite for anything other than light trout fishing in my local strams, but after fishing it for a season, it's now my favorite lite Blackfish rod for the area I fish.
Been using. Daiwa CS80 with 15lb braid and 20lb leader. The whole set up weighs almost nothing.
Jigging, and lite sinker rigs...makes everything that gets hooked feel like a monster. ?

I made myself a fluke rod out of the Tai blank. Reluctant to try it on blackfish,though

I use it mainly in water of 30' or less with a jig or rig of less than 2oz. I always wonder what would happen if I hook another one like this one.

Good for you DB. A true sportsman. Big fish on light tackle.
The waters like glass. Water skiing conditions.

I stopped by Jig-n-Pop and picked up another Tai blank.

Thinking I'm gonna extend it and make a 7' spinning rod and get a small Daiwa BG to match it up.

I extended the blank with a piece of a CTS I broke a few years ago.
Now it's a Korean NZ hybrid. ?

Handle is all done. Decided to make a casting rod instead of a spining rod before I glued in the reel seat.

Looks good DB. Do you prefer to have the reel seat on that way?

For bait casters and spinning reels, yes.
I reverse it for conventional reels.

This way most of my hand is on the cork and not the reel seat.

The Tai rod is amazing rod. The blank weighs only 1.4 oz.
We landed 50 -60 lb tuna and 150 lb halibut with the rods.

Geez, look at the bend on that rod with the tuna...crazy. Bending right at the fore grip.

I can't wait for the blackfish season so I can light my Tai sticks on some big azz togs. ?

Big grouper fight much harder than tog.
