I was looking for a local marine electronics installer. I hooked up my first Gamin (a 188C in 2002) and did not want to go through that again.
Someone on another site mentioned he: “had a very bad experience with a dealer a year and a half ago. Almost $30,000 install and the radar was working intermittently due to bad wiring on their part. They never got it fixed and wouldn't return my calls. I ended up rewiring my tower over the winter myself.”
This was valuable information. I was considering them. They went on to recommended Jeff’s Marine Electronics. He said: “everyone in my marina, even the big boats, swear by him.” As luck would have it, Captain Jeff Roye was close to me. I called him up and set up and appointment.
Captain Jeff did a great job. He installed my Garmin EchoMap as I requested. Then he hooked it up to the ICOM Radio to the Garmin so the distress button would work as intended, something I failed to do with the 188C.
Captain Jeff then took the time to run through some of the features of the unit. Plus, his pricing is very reasonable. If on Long Island, this is someone you may want to consider.
