A little late this year, but I finally got my boat sorted out.

One issue I had was my GPS. I would hook it up, hit the ON button and sometimes it would light up, sometimes nothing. The other symptom from last year was we were heading for a spot, and the GPS would again go blank. It is frustrating when on the water.

Last Friday, I went out and hooked up my GPS….nothing. UGH!

I called Captain Jeff’s Roye Marine Electronics. Captain Jeff Roye was close to me. I called him up and set up an appointment. However, if needed he would have come to me. I just would have to get on his wait list. I wanted it done sooner than later.

Captain Jeff located the issue in a short amount of time and fixed it. He checked my battery and mentioned: “You haven’t updated your Garmin in 5 years.” I mentioned I would go on Active Captain to do it later. He said, “No worries, I just updated your unit for you.” A bonus is Captain Jeff then pricing is very reasonable.

I am posting this as I have been having a tough time finding good people to either work on my car, Contractors for the home, work on my boat electronics or help me with issues with my 125 Mercury and that charge a fair price. So, I appreciate good recommendations. Time for me to share.

He can be reached at [email protected] or 631/469-1645.

BTW: While I'm here.....
I used to use Glen Shadbolt for my 125 2 stroke Mercury. I recently texted him and he called back. He said:
"Do you expect me to drive up from Fla?"

Two places were recommended
1) Nick Arcella
2) Port Jeff Marine Maintenance Inc 70 Comsewogue Rd # 4, Setauket- East Setauket, NY 11733
