Most of us support mental health reporting in the NICS system, but it has to follow due process which Obama's rule did not. You cannot deprive someone of their civil rights arbitrarily.

How about you build on that. When you say "mental health reporting" That is as vague as me using "AR" to equate to assault type rifles. Does that mean if someone sees a psychiatrist they are excluded from owning a weapon? What about if someone has anxiety issues and is prescribes a benzo like ativan or xanax? Or do you mean the onus should now be on a psychiatrist or psychologist to make that determination? What about self reporting? That last one was sarcasm.

But seriously when you say you support mental health reporting in the NICS system what do you mean. Because when you lift the laws on your HIPPA rights that is just the beginning. I know how you hate laws that have the potential to take away all our rights. Because now if medical records are an open book then lets say someone gets into a car accident and then applies for a gun after healing, how are we to know he isn't getting that gun for revenge. A far fetched argument but no more than yours.

You should post the clip of Granpa Biden telling US all about white children.
you post it TIA....THAT COMPARISON CRAP don't fly with me....most right wingers post well Clinton did this or that...or some other democrat did this just to condone the VERY BAD BEHAVIOR of donald trump and his co-horts.......well guess what....I don't give a "pass" to anyone regardless of their party...but look how ridiculous all the right wingers who trashed barrack Obama and support the trash bag we have now look. Obama could qualify for sainthood compared to this chitstain we have now

This is exactly what I was referring to when I said "has to follow due process." Obama's rule that MTB is whining about Trump repealing was utterly arbitrary, and pretty much fits the scenario you're describing. Kind of like when they wanted to put people on the No Fly list in NICS. Since there's no standard for placing someone on the no fly list and no review or appeal it's a violation of due process. Despite the gun grabbers cry of it being "Common Sense" it's a pi$$-poor way of dong things in a free country.

My expectation is that if we have such a law it would only be applied to people who have been clinically diagnosed as a danger to themselves or others. It would probably require diagnostic review and there would need to be an appeal process in place. I certainly wouldn't want it to apply to just anybody who seeks mental health care. We have enough problems with that being stigmatized in this country which I'm sure prevents a lot of people from seeking help. Also, considering the number of mistakes in reporting in the NICS system and the limited number of people that would be diagnosed and put in the NICS system under such rules I doubt this would be spectacularly effective. But there have been some glaring examples of people with known mental health issues that have gone on to commit atrocities. So having an avenue to include such people in NICS may be helpful.

thats just the way you are interpreting it.......I'm just stating history.....no judging it......manifest destiny...slavery.....native eradication.......good stuff!!

How should one interpret this?

you are right things are different here...this is the most violent hate filled racist country on the planet...from day one!!! And the country and these mass murderers prove it constantly.....

Every country on the planet has a similar history. We've been the best of all of them on correcting so many of these things and assimilating people of different backgrounds, yet people make statements like this. It's simply not true, and can't help but wonder why people buy into this, unless they think it empowers them to dismantle the things that make us successful.

Any correction has come kicking and screaming. We even had a hard time making Alaska and Hawaii states due to strong opposition from the keep America white crowd.

But obviously there were people who wanted to make the correction, and pushed hard for it. For example, no country on this earth paid a higher price to end slavery, but we were willing to make the investment. Slavery is still rampant in other parts of the world. But somehow we are the worst country on the planet?

Doesn't add up.

never said the worst...it is a great country with a bloodstained history......what price did we pay to end slavery?? The slaves were freed 3 years into the war.....where the U.S. screwed up was in allowing the good ole boys to substitute sharecropping....then Jim Crow....and then incarceration and not allowing the opportunity to advance in society to the negro.......we are still paying for that today
