Maybe just boats....and not Boat Fishing

That is what I have been wondering about. How do I prove compliance.

BTW, I did a little looking around on line. If you have taken a safe boating course you can have a little anchor symbol put on your NYS drivers license. Too bad this wasn't more publicized. I just renewed my drivers license in February. I could have had this all settled. It's another 8 years before my drivers license needs renewal again.

I just don't want to have to carry my MMD around with me. It is like a passport. It is just not convenient to carry.

I was hesitant to have anything added to my drivers license, hunting, pistol license, fishing or boating. Would rather just have to carry the extra stuff seasonally. I just don't trust Albany, and you can take that politically, realistically, practically, pragmatically or any which way ! I renewed my license online again last year and now have a 17 year old photo, in a suit and tie from work neither of which I have worn except for funerals since 2011, lol.
(I have a passport- don't need to pay Albany anything extra.)

Couple of things here. You can have your boating safety certificate added to your drivers license. Yes they put a little anchor in the corner, DMV charges to add that your license. That is why most people don't do it. We give NY State enough money already.

Read the comment regarding Captains License/Boating Safety Certificate. Captains License is a FEDERAL license and all licenses must be renewed. Boating Safety Certificates are State issued( state by state like a drivers license) and currently do not expire. ( Don't give the states any ideas to charge $$ for a renewal Safe Boating Certificate).
