We had a Easy pass bill come in the mail for charges on one of license plates. I called and told them that vehicle has not been off the Island for over two years.

I had the exact same thing happen, always use my transponder and haven't been to Albany in 20 years. I got a credit back for it. NYS and NYC are getting creative to increase revenue.

NYS fiscal year I believe begins April 1st, so this shouldn't increase your tax bill for winning Mega tonight.
If it was January 1st you'd be out another $13 million.
If you were from Texas or Florida you'd save $70 million over someone who won from NY.
In Texas you can even remain anonymous.

Cuomo's $193 billion spending plan would mark a 11% increase over the current budget, though the majority of that increase — about $13.5 billion — would come from federal funding.

The governor's plan would keep state spending flat at about $102 billion.

Among the dozens of proposals included in Cuomo's proposal are:

  • A tax hike on income over $5 million annually, which would increase the tax rate from 8.82% to 10.82% and generate an estimated $1.5 billion annually
  • A one-year delay of a small planned tax cut for the middle class, which would save the state $400 million
  • The legalization of adult-use marijuana, which the state anticipates generating up to $350 million a year when fully ramped up
  • The legalization of mobile sports gambling under a state-run system similar to the lottery, which the state estimates would bring in about $500 million when fully implemented
