Metal Detecting

Hi Fellas,
I have always wanted to do this since I'm a kid but never did. For Xmas I got a book on it. I just finished reading it recently and I must say glad I read it before I got one. If I had not read this book, I would not of gotten the one for beaches (due to the false positive it would give off from the minerals in the sand). So although I read the book and a few threads on this. Any advice would be great before I get one. Thanks

OMD

Hey OMD, love your pic.

My neighbor next door has a detector, not sure he uses much but will ask him what brand it is, how it works and cost.

I always thought it was interesting but never did it.

Nice to e-see you.

Too old? ;)

I became the recipient about two or three weeks ago as a result of trying to find the Town water supply line. We found it & now I have it. No book. That went by the wayside so I don't really know how to operate it.

I have an old detector. Haven’t gotten much use of it. I recently started checking out metal detectingforum.com and picked up some pretty good info on there. People are super nice also.

Good Morning eveyone :coffee::)
Yeah, I read in the book how strict the rules are to where you can metal detect. If I get one, I want to try my brotherinlaws back yard to start. He bought a house a while ago in a very old town with a large piece of property that use to be an old farm. when they dug a hole to put the pool in all sorts of neat bottles, horseshoes and tools came up.

Benny thanks for that website I will check it out.

Hi JPD, been a long time. Good to see the old rat pack is here. :cool:

Hi Jack, that would be great if you can get some info for me. Thanks.

I gotta hit the road, thanks for the info fellas, will check it out tonight.
