WANTAGH, L.I. — The Nassau County Police Department confirmed to PIX11 News Friday night that four containers filled with flammable liquid — kerosene — were found in the parking lot behind a popular Wantagh pizza place early Friday morning.

The incident was not initially reported to the media.

On Friday evening, a retired Nassau County police officer sent PIX11 News photos showing the large, plastic, five-gallon containers sitting curbside at Seaford Avenue and Locust Avenue with rags sticking out of the top.

These kinds of materials are often used as Molotov cocktails.

The pizza place, which PIX11 News is not naming, faces Sunrise Highway, where George Floyd protesters have been marching in recent days. A demonstration was expected Friday night on Long Island, but word got out it might be canceled, due to rain.

When PIX11 News first made inquiries about the incident Friday evening, we were told it was cooking oil that had been illegally dumped. Earlier, a source told us the initial incident had been “reclassified.”

When we sent photos showing police activity to the department — and the container at the site from Friday morning — a press release almost immediately followed.

It said that a 7th Precinct police officer “came upon three, five-gallon size, Poland Spring containers and one five gallon plastic bucket that were filled with what appeared to be flammable liquid. A subsequent investigation revealed that they contained kerosene and were apparently illegally disposed of and left in the street.”

The Fire Marshall’s office removed the items for disposal. It’s worth noting the Poland Spring containers were painted black. This is a common tactic used to mask canisters containing accelerants.

New York City was plagued last Friday night by police vans being set on fire. Two lawyers were among those arrested, accused of using Bud Light bottles and toilet paper to create Molotov cocktails and inciting others to do so.

Police have also been on the lookout for palettes of bricks being left in strategic locations.

They’re protesting right now on City Island. The local police Precint was nice enough to send over 2 cops to keep an eye on it.

I just got home from my boat in Freeport. Merrick Road by the Meadowbrook Pkwy is shut down east bound. Sunrise Hwy in that area is shut down as well. Had to do some maneuvering to get northbound on the Meadowbrook Pkwy. South bound traffic was at a near standstill.

I am glad I got out of there when I did. Nassau PD everywhere. I have never seen so many flashing lights, cars, and officers in one place. I know on guy at my marina moved his boat out of Freeport to a friends backyard a few miles to the east for safety.

Reading the latest - we have a new one here in Westchester

Police said Flowers was the passenger in a car that was pulled over for multiple traffic infractions at 10:54 p.m. Friday in the area of Potter Avenue and Pierce Street. Police officials said that when two uniformed police officers, who have not been identified, stopped the car, Flowers got out and took off on foot. The officers gave chase. One of them used a Taser, which police said was defective, and Flowers displayed a handgun, according to police.

That's when one of the officers fired. According to Mayor Noam Bramson, the officer fired six shots, one of which hit Flowers through the armpit and penetrated his heart. He was taken by ambulance to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where he died.

yeah blah blah been hearing this from Rodney days even back then they were looting and burning down their home towns and what has that got them? Do we bring up all the unheard cases of white people /kids getting killed? Do you see whites protesting/looting/burning dowm their home towns?
