If you want a good chowder recipe ask Chevy. He gave me some clam chowder that was out of this world.

Apropos of nothing.......................
you were talking bone broth somewhere back there - I was in Costco last week - they sell a Chicken Bone Broth. Seemed reasonably priced - think $12 for a gallon or something like that. Don't know if it's already seasoned or something you would/could season.

Thought I'd pass it along.
Might save you a little work.
Meant to mention it to you on Tuesday.

Thanks, the Beef Bone Broth has the collagen from the marrow. That's what I'm after.

The bone broth takes hours to make, up to 24 hours. Stock takes a couple of hours to make and it’s not for collagen. It’s for cooking and soup. Bone broth is a source of collagen for a diet that I think Crabby is talking about.

Yes, it aids in digestion, it helps in weight loss , and it helps in pain relief from arthritis.

My point was it does not take 24hrs to make a bone broth. With a pressure cooker it would take only 2hrs or less on the stove top. I have the old fashion rocker top type. I use it for cooking, canning, broth and stock. Between work and having had kids it is a life saver for me. Wife thinks I am gonna burn down the house with a slow cooker going when not home which drives me nuts.

Your right, doesn’t take everyone 24 hours. For me the 24 hours is not all on the heat . Some of the time needs refrigeration. Skimming etc. then reheating. I should be more specific. I apologize.

Please, I was only trying to make a suggestion. You said nothing wrong. Heck skimming is my favorite part. Chicken or Ham bone fat is my favorite to save in freezer for frying the veggies before adding meat.

Takes me fourteen hours to cook the broth. I start around eight am and finish around 10 pm. I put it in the fridge just before I go to bed. Skim off the fat in the morning.
