Neilsen Ratings Solicitations WTF????

Is anyone else getting solicited from them???
In the last month:
Letter in the mail to sign up fill out a form with my household information, mail it back in and get $5. No Thanks in the garbage it went.
This week: Unsolicited device arrives via fed ex for me to plug into my TV!! WTF. In the trash.
Just now: Lady knocks on my door from Neilsen with a box of chocolates I tell her I am not interested, she says oh we just want to let you know the details....NO I am Not Interested, and I shut the door. Funny thing is she wasn't going door to door in the neighborhood (which I could understand). She parked right in front of my house, and when she left she backed up in my driveway and left in the opposite direction the car was originally facing on the street.

Never in my life have I had this happen to me. Does anyone have any experience with these idiots?

I get that I, know who they are. Do they have a habit of showing up at someone's house? It's not like they are selling homeowner related improvements.

I've been contacted by them several times. No big deal.

Don't be such a crab. It's not like they're from the government, ya know.

In person? On a Sunday evening 4:45 which is traditionally family dinner time ?

That's weird. I've never had an in-person visit without them making contact via mail and phone first. You have to volunteer, and I have a feeling they're getting desperate for participation. I suspect the shift to online streaming is taking a bite out of their pool of participants.

You get paid to be a Nielsen family, and it gives you a chance to support shows you like, since you represent so many families it has some weight.

every one is very cautious as of late…

on line scams, spams…
package stealing doorsteps,
illegal aliens begging door to door… etc…

neilsen knows who’s watching what… cell…

I got the email once, and nuked it. Guess they got the hint.

If you have Cable or Satellite, doesn't seem to make sense any more since I assume Nielsen could entice those providers for data dumps from their tuners, along with the streaming services.

I'm guessing the only final frontier left is the original one, people who watch TV on air through antennas, Then again I bet modern, WiFi attached TVs "phone home" with data dumps...

Yep, thats why the door to door thing and mailing some device to "resident" doesn't make much sense. The cable providers already sell the data, not sure if they sell direct to advertisers or to brokers as a middle man

Nope, they don't like me because of the antenna.

They're really only interested in cable or other TV providers like Verizon. They don't cover streaming services.

BTW, advertisers don't trust cable companies to self-report on viewership. They want an independent auditor to verify the audience. I wonder why?

Well, I guess I got what was coming to me.

The government sent us the Amercian Community Survey. We were lucky enough to be selected for a more thorough version of the census. Talk about intrusive! And yes, you're required by law to respond.

Got one myself; intrusive is not a strong enough description. Inquisition is better. 😡
