New for 2022 Shimano Bantam A Low-Pro (Great Reel!)

Kind of a Big Deal - In My Mind Anyway

I was always a fan of the original Bantam, which Shimano released maybe 5 years ago. This new one builds on that reel, with several important mechanical upgrades, plus a cut in weight - which is always nice.

The frame's configuration is unlike any other low-pro bait caster, in that the frame and palming side plate are one piece - like a Calcutta Conquest (BIG bux, that one is). This construction feature, along with the Infinity Drive's configuration positively removes any frame torque when cranking on a big one. Think monster tog. I know, I know, all the cool guys are using spinners for this (as "uncool me" does as well) - but no reason not to use a bait caster with a VERY free spool - which this reel certainly features.

I do love my Daiwa OG Zillions and my new Catalina, of course(!), but this new Bantam next-level in technology. The last gen version I played with was easily the smoothest cranking low-pro I've ever felt. With the newer Micro-module V2 gearset, this one should stay that smooth much longer than the first Bantam series did.

Anyway, if you have an interest in cutting-edge gear, watch this video for a more detailed explanation of what this reel offers.
