New Recreational Rules for Groundfish in the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank

Gulf of Maine The 2019 Gulf of Maine cod and haddock recreational management measures are changing. We are opening a 2-week season (September 15-30) for Gulf of Maine cod: ​ Cod Open Season: Sept 15-30 Possession Limit: 1 per person Minimum Size: 21 inches Based on the comments we received on the proposed rule, we are not opening an April season for Gulf of Maine cod. ​ Haddock Open Season: May 1-Feb 28/29, Apr 15-30 Possession Limit: 15 per person Minimum Size: 17 inches We are increasing the possession limit for Gulf of Maine haddock from 12 to 15 fish, and have removed the fall closure to increase access to this healthy stock. ​ Georges Bank Cod Open Season: All year Possession Limit: 10 per person Minimum Size: 21 inches The 2019 Georges Bank cod recreational management measures decrease the minimum size of cod to 21 inches. The possession limit and season remain the same. ​ More Information Read the permit holder bulletin on our website. This rule is effective at 8:45 am on Friday, July 5. Thanks for posting that George, I didn't mean to sound like im killing the messenger. Just spouting off about how much we know is fact about the moon and how little we really know about our own Mother Earth. Oh yeah, their use to be dinosaurs here . No really.
