New tackle bag

For those of you who fish for smaller "eats" like weaks and fluke and may eschew bait like me, I can not wait to try out my new bag.
I have worn out two similar bags from Cabelas, but this one seems to be best suited to my needs and wants. I just attach one end of the shoulder strap to a DIY loop of line tied through the bottom of my Scotty, which allows me to stretch forward and bring the bag back to my lap. Inside the top flap is a clear zipped compartment perfect for my dressed leadhead jig rigs. In the main compartment sits one of those plano-type plastic utility boxes and on top of it a plano liquid bait container for Gulp. One side pocket is my "first aid" stuff, skin-so-soft, some bandaids, some aspirin (for my anticipated stroke as if I might actually save self, lol), a chapstick, some spf lotion, etc. Front and rear zipped pockets easily can hold a chart, marine registry card, leader line, pliers, etc. Best of all its trim color matches my yak ! I won't test it out until fluke season, whenever that is, as I just fish local and the only stripers in my back bay area in April are throw backs and I like just wearing trunks and a wife beater or two under my PFD.

I do wish that the makers of these bags would use more velcro instead of zippers, the way the surf plug bags are made.
I am going to try using beeswax on this bag's many zippers. I always used white lithium grease in the past.

Seems like a decent price. Good luck.

Even if I continuously have to lube the zippers at that price I don’t care ! Several more features than my Cabelas bags had.

Been out nearly 20 times with the bag now. No complaints whatsoever. Zippers still function. Great buy.

Looks like a nice bag, but a little to big to be carrying around the surf. I've tried a few different bags, but have always gone back to an Ammo back, with a couple outside pockets. Just broke the strap the other day - had that bag for almost 30 years. So I bought a similar one. Fox Ammo Bag

I repaired my surf bag that I got at Kittery Trading Post 25 years ago but if I hadn't that ammo bag looks practical. How deep is it? Could it fit two rows of plug slots ? I had another bag gifted to me that came with those useless Plano plastic boxes that I replaced with DIY plug slots made with masonite and a glue gun. I use one for my light 9' Lami and the other for when I need 2 ounce plugs and up. (Haven't used bait since 2005 or so, just lures (and Gulp on the yak.)

Zippers are really getting stuck on the kayak bag after a third full season. I wish I could find a bag that closed up with velcro ! (Not enough material for me to replace the zippers with velcro myself.) May go to Walmart for this $16. cheapie--

Okeechobee Fats Soft-Sided Fishing Tackle Bag with 2 Medium Lure Boxes, Polyester and I just switched the tackle and rigs to my old Cabela's bag with its still working zippers. Yes, one does get what one pays for.

Meanwhile I have eschewed the plug bags I used for surfcasting and now carry a backpack with everything I could ever need. Small binos, PVC sand spike, water bottle, three large plano boxes for lures and a zip lock bag for spare leaders and teasers. Can wear it while casting or leave it up on the berm with the spike.

Funny you mention the backpack from the surf. I took up fly fishing from the land and needed a backpack to carry the fly boxes, leader material, etc. And as a bonus, it saved me on an errant cast in some windy conditions when technique broke down and the fly would have embedded in my neck! Thank you backpack!
