My friend in Newport is a member in Freedom Boat Club. The boat was very nice, had a gps and fishfinder, but we could not figure out how to turn on tracking. The boat had a nice livewell, but no washdown hose.
I had my first keeper (18") in about a minute from my crab hitting the bottom and my limit (18, 17, 16.5) in about 15 minutes. The pool fish went 6.5#.
Unfortunately, anchoring and holding bottom became tough as the new moon tide south out of the bay opposed an increasing northerly blow. I miss my spotlock and other electronics on which I have come to rely.
We tried getting out of the wind and finding an area with less tide, but only caught small porgies and
seabass
All in all, a great trip.
