Not A Good Day to be A Bunker

Got going before first light this morning, on the way to black fishing, I wanted to stop at one of my favorite bass spots, first week in November, bottom of the ebb tide at dawn, should be a lock. Well my planning & early start was nothing more than a boat ride & beautiful sunrise, no life. Continued on, & my first two black fish drops produced one short & no other life, although I did see brown clouds in the water that were schools of bunker with nothing on them, not even flipping on the surface. Then about a 1/2 mile to the east, an explosion, a whale found the bunker, & worked the school putting on a show. Back to the task at hand, finally found the black fish life I was looking for at Plum Island, no sea monsters, but a limit of respectable keepers, & one sea bass. Took an early ride back to the trailer.
