Not a good day

Headed with Frank Sr and Jason. Had our spot in mind. Headed across the sound and reached our spot. There was a boat there spot locked as we were setting our spot lock A party boat arrived. I won’t use names I’ll only say it’s based out of Huntington. He came in hard dropped one anchor then proceeded to almost run the boat over that was already fishing. Those guys pulled there spot lock to try and either leave or move when the captain came on the speaker yelling at them as the guy is trying to get out of his way. Then comes full bore at us with the spot lock down had to throttle the engines to avoid getting hit. Well now we’re off our spot and can’t get back where we wanted because of his double anchor job. So very tried jockey in around and reset but way off the mark. We picked at small fish and decided to move, only now spot lock takes a crap on us. Remote control problem easy fix but now we need to go anchor somewhere made a few drop’s managed a nice 22” fish. But that was it today. Wasn’t meant to be today. I can say this if I happen to run into that individual in the street I will certainly have a few choice words for him.. Anyway till next time, will get out during the week.

That really sucks but at least you are lucky enough to be be able to get back out there real soon and have a great day and put that BS behind you.
I had a somewhat similar experience a couple weeks ago with a dive boat on the Shinnecock reef. I was working my favorite piece early one Saturday morning and having what looked like it would be my best sea bass day of the year after many struggling days
Along comes the dive boat that just had to have my spot and raises his dive flag effectively shutting me right down. I expressed my opinion to the captain while refraining and reminding myself its supposed to fun and Im there to get away from all the nonsense and BS on land

You are correct, As everything unfolded very quickly was the furthest thing from my mind. Having a 89 year old fishing buddy standing behind me, my buddy down below using the head and me at helm. All good Karma’s a bitch. On top of it’s nothing new to that boat. There’s many others who have had encounters with him

I can respect the fact that this is how they make a living and maybe some leeway is in order. I'm sure the mosquito fleet using them to find spots instead of doing their own research is annoying. But too many of them use the fact that they're trying to make money as a license to be bullies.

Maybe we do need to set up dash-cams and do some public shaming.
