One More Last Fluke Trip

Since the ocean forecast wasn’t great for fishing the reef I decided to make one more “last” fluke trip.
Although the wind forecast was W 5-10, it quickly turned to a light N which was OK combined with the ebb tide so I actually had wind and tide and a good drift
I quickly put a fat just over 20” fish in the box and had hopes for a good morning
Unfortunately it didn’t happen. After that it was maybe a half dozen shirts that didn’t need to be measured and countless birds.
I think the wind and swell this week finally got the fish moving out.
Happy to come home with the 1 keeper
And with that, the 2025 Fluke season is officially over for me
On to other species now😎

I have been fishing magnolia pier recently and fluke fishing has been great. Went Saturday and 10 keepers were caught and a women caught a fat 25 inch fluke on spearing. They sell spearing at the tackle shop right there. There is a ton of bait there and the fluke are taking advantage of it and if the fluke aren’t biting there are plently of blues there Georging on peanut bunker spearing shad and perch.
