Perch?

longcast

Well-Known Angler
Had some time earlier today to break out the light rod and look for some yellow perch. Picking up the light rod and now fishing with a 1/16 oz jig takes a bit to get used to after slinging plugs up to 3 oz during the fall. First cast, wind grabs the 4lb line, get that line on reel, and you know what - the first hit of the year. Swing and a miss!! Settle down, get the cadence back and not another bump for the 3 spots I stopped at. The shallows had life, saw small fish moving around. No way these perch have settled into their winter pattern. Water still warm. A couple weeks and I should be able to get on them. Still good to get the kinks out for the next trip.
