again when I was a teenager, I would take this elderly Italian man, to the Knapp street pier in sheepshead bay,.. when the Snappers moved out, he would turn his bamboo pole skills to Spearing..

the Spearing were really big enough to catch wit a hook and tiny bit of bait...da tiny hook was an import from Italy and it was so small it didn’t have an eyelet... it’s end was just flattened out slightly,... Grandpa manage to tie a knot on it... memories...

it’s da first time I’m thinking of that experience +50 years ago, WoW... I remember da bucket of water was warmer than the air... cellfish...

I once worked with a fellow Nick who we called Nick Palooka (for a reason). When ever we'd order pizza for lunch, he'd wait for it to get cold. Now Nick was a big bruiser. But he said that of all his brothers and sisters he was the youngest and smallest. ( I can't even imagine his sisters). So he was always last to get a slice and it was always cold. He said that was the only way that he liked pizza since he was so used to it being cold.
