Inflation. Slice and a small soda was 75¢ where I got off the bus in HS - late 70's.

Back in the day in Brooklyn, 15 cents a slice and $1.25 for the whole pie to go. I asked one day, why the extra nickel since 15 cents times 8 slices is only $1.20. They told me 5 cents extra for the box.
