Plenty of Biscuits!

The “Biscuit Bite” rolls on in the eastern LI Sound. Finally blessed with a stretch of good weather I was able to make 3 trips in the past 4 days, one recreational and 2 charters. Sea Bass was the main target and I must say the fish were quite cooperative.

This past Thursday was a recreational trip with a couple of good friends and 2 hours was all we need to ice our 21 fish limit to 3# all on various types of squid baits.

Saturday found the Mike party book a 6-hour trip and we started by exercising their backs in Plum Gut with a steady stream of Blues on the ebb tide. They kept 6 for the box and released at least a dozen more, all in the 4-8# class on bucktails. With 90 minutes left in the trip we scooted around to the north side of Plum I. and, once again, found the Sea Bass hungry and waiting. During the short window we boxed 20 nice keepers to 3.5#.

This morning was just a half day Sea Bass special and despite the somewhat foggy conditions Cindy’s group also put away another 21 biscuits to 3# for 2 hours work. The keepers are running consistently between 2-3# and, as usual, the squid heads are doing a number of the largest fish.

Two more weeks left to cash in on this bite before my focus turns solely to Tog. Give me a call if you want to get out.
