Went out this morning around 430 to catch the last of the incoming and see if we could catch a few bass on the flats leading to deeper water. The water was stained pretty good, areas of weed made for interesting retrieves. One opportunity, I had a fish take a black bomber which jolted the rod and that big old tail threw a bunch of water into the air. How did he miss all those hooks?
Closer to gray light we found some peanuts getting smashed along a shoreline in the bay. We threw everything in the bag for not a touch. Awesome to watch the peanuts come around a point and get smashed! Ended up in the inlet casting bucktails and soft plastics. Sporadic peanuts getting blasted into the air by bluefish. We managed a couple to around 5 pounds and we headed for the dock around 8. Great to get out, marked a few more spots to come back as the season progresses.
