Port Everglades Crash

The wifes cousin was on her honeymoon in FL. The new husband was driving a waterski boat pulling the wife and was not watching where he was driving. Hit a dock and was killed. Tragic.

Years ago I was fishing just east of Short Beach in the LIS. It's the kind of spot that unless you're VERY familiar with that can get you in rock trouble. It was 3 am and I hear a boat screaming up the shoreline that I knew was a minefield of boulders. He obviously had no clue he was in 2-3 feet of water. I heard him scrape something and then I heard the crash. When I arrived on the scene about 2-minutes later, the boat was wedged between two rocks in 2 foot of water.

There were 4 people aboard a speedboat, no one hurt, and they were rushing to get their life jackets on. Had they jumped in they most certainly would have been cut up with all of those rocks around, not to mention the boat was already resting on the bottom. They asked me to take them to the shore so they could wait for their parents.

Recreational craft like ATVs, Snowsleds, Jetskis, and Boats - Prime incubators for future Darwin Awardees...

This time of year we have at least 1 fatality a weekend on snowsleds; it changes to ATVs and Jetskis in the summer. Tempt fate with inexperience and poor judgement, augmented by ethanol and speed, and you'll pay...

Wow, got our mandatory weekend snow sled mortality already this weekend. Can't fix stupid...
