The last few days have done wonders to my blood pressure with very thick fog. Previous to this morning, the fog was not thick upon leaving the dock, but this morning, in a crazy first ever, I crawled away from my dock with the radar going when only having to go about 1/4 of a nmi!! I quickly lucked out by accidently running over a school of feed bass, that weren't particularly interested in any lures, but I was able to fool one 24" fish to start the day before they went down. And then the games begun, having to sit and listen for feeding fish and then crawling over towards the sound in the fog, hoping that they'd still be there, in the mood to hit, and my "echo location derived course" was correct.
My luck with getting the fish to bite increased by using an old, beat up metallic Striper Strike adorned with a Chartreuse siwash tail hook, a product of the elder, and more experienced of LI's Skinner Brothers. The morning ended with 6 fish to 28" (see below), including two unusually small fish for this year at 20". When the fog lifted the fishing totally turned off. Hey beats staying in bed sleeping...
