Glad you got on them today.Really Nice Morning's Fishing
Sailed solo (again!) on a gorgeous ocean to my favorite local reef. Passed a fleet off the Pink Hotel fishing in 35' under huge clouds of birds. Wasn't close enough to see bent rods, but they had to be doing something over there, the birds were going nuts.
Anyway, got right on my preferred bottom and had action right away with much better sized fish than recently. Second fish of the day gave the rod a good workout with some impressive power-dives - a nice 5lb fish for the box. Didn't take long for another good fish - this time pushing 6lbs. Huh! I could get used to this. Spent the next few hours working on my limit, adding a pair of roasters, completing the limit by just 10:00 in the morning. There's some good news, for sure.
Put away the bait rod and played CnR with a bunch more fish on the spinner/jig combo, including 3 more for-sure keepers to 18". Pulled the anchor around 11:00 and sailed home at a nice easy 16kts - just enjoying the day's weather and thinking about the newly-solid fishing, which was a real change from the tooth-pull of last weekend.
I think we have another weather window opening up Thurs, which I've kept open to fish with Capt. Mike - my boat or his, really doesn't matter - and so it looks like a weekday mental health vaca day is coming.

Got back to the dock so early that I could invest the time in a really good scrubbing, including acid-washing the deck (think toilet bowl cleaner). Came out mint. Still one of the nicest-looking boats in the marina. To my eyes, anyways.
