Had KenScot and George Scocca aboard today for a day's fluking outside JI. Flat calm, no-drift morning and so the spinning gear helped put a few in the box, including a 5-er for me. The drift finally shaped up after the morning's turn and we went to work, progressing up from 2oz thru to 5oz bucktails as it gained strength. Fish were coming pretty good - but mostly 18-18.75" Joisey-sized fish. We fished on and did manage to box a total of 9 keeps to around 5.5lbs, plus 4 good sized C-bass. Not horrible, I guess. Beautiful, not too hot day, not a drop of water on the windshields 'til we got back in the Bay, dealing with the idiotic antics of that crowd.

We did have a TON of short biters today, and all of us dropped some sure keepers. George was hi-hook (again!), doing some good work with his new-to-him Harrier spinning rod. He has the touch with that stick, no doubt about it. He also had about $400 worth of GULP! with him today. Dick's must have closed early last Monday, as George couldn't have left a single pack un-purchased.

Once again I had great day and I certainly have learned a lot about deep water fluke thanks to you! I think I might have a Gulp problem.

Thanks very much, George. I see you are becoming quite skilled at the south shore deep drop Fluke challenge. On second thought, with that much Gulp how could anyone fail!!!

Happy Saturday my Friends!! Today July 25th, View attachment 22598James H. Chartered the Miss B for fluke and brought his friends Lee, Sunny, Jayden, Alex snd Unchen. First 2/3 of day we had dead calm conditions with a death pick. When the S wind finally came up a bit the fish started to chew. The guys totaled 10 NY keeper size fluke with some CBass and Ling. Sunny copped the big bucks pool with his 8#. Thank You very much guys for fishing hard all day with the roasting heat and tough conditions.

little swell with a small chop on top most of the day.AM had some big 5ft swells but not too bad..Boat did 21kts on bow its a tank..

we had eight keepers to 4lbs nothing big but!!! Jimmy had a big fish all the way up he's saying its big its big 34" fluke , two 17inch fish nose to tail LOL

Fished outside JI today with George and the infamous Capt. XXX's son Stephen. Not a bad ocean to start, but as the day progressed the swells were easily in the 5' range, with a wind chop on top. Not a great way to jig - but we must have caught at least 100 fish today anyway, with 9 legit keeps in the mix to George's 5.5lber. This is the year of the 18" fish on the offshore grounds as they are just inundated with these Jersey-sized fish. If NY had that 18" limit, we would have been finished before 9:00 this morning.

It was not easy fishing this way as the swell would drop your rig into the rubble every time the boat dropped into a trough. Still, if one paid attention, there were PLENTY of bites, just not a ton of NY keepers. Of course we all dropped what seemed to be sure keepers, but that's part of the game.

Having some issues with my boat, which I believe to be ignition-circuit related, so no sailing this weekend while I attempt to work thru this latest irritation. Boats! Bah!

fluke was really slow today..with flat seas went off to bottom fish...cooler filler of ling & jumbo BSB..and a few fluke too..

Happy Saturday my Friends!! Today Sat. Aug. 1st, James H. chartered the Miss B and brought his crew Sunny, Jayden, Alex, Lee and Unchen. The guys managed to box 17 NY size keepers. Sunny copped the big bucks pool again with his 26”x 7# beauty edging out Lee. Lee was high hook with 5 keepers up to 6#. A dozen keeper CBass also went home. Thank you so much guys for a great day.

Another Massachusetts Massacre in the books. Our annual trip targets Fluke/Sea Bass one day then Cod/Haddock the next. Unfortunately the State will not allow anglers to sleep on boat so we had to travel from Nantucket Shoals back to Hyannis, grab a nearby hotel then muster early next day to go to Haddock grounds 2.5 hour ride. All that traveling couldn't wipe the smile off my face - 13 keeper Fluke (ORL) 3 over 27" up to 9.5 lbs, many ginormous sea bass, as many Haddock as u wanted (we were not gluttons, no limit on this tasty fish & some folks kept 50+), just a few cod caught because we never left the Haddock grounds for George's Bank cod. I'm knackered today but still glowing. BTW the hot gulp color for me was the red/white/blue Patriot grub.

try not to fish on Sunday's but with the weather last week i figured I give it a try..Had Big Joe on the boat along with Ted & Reed & we hit a few different spots on & off bite with six nice keepers to 4lbs & a few jumbo BSB & ling

Fished today with Site Boss George and his buddy Steve. Despite still wrestling with unresolved ignition system issues, we plugged away for a total of 8 keeps to 5lbs and six nice biscuits. No more fishing until I absolutely know the boat is fixed - and I'm having a major B-buster of time isolating the issue. This is becoming some real Jedi-level boat repair sh!t.

Took full advantage of this past weekends excellent weather running back to back charters with strong fishing on both days.

Saturday found Mike B. and his family join me for a half day afternoon trip out to the LI Sound. His 2 young daughters had only fished in lakes previously but proved their angling skills by really putting the hurt on the Porgy and Sea Bass population north of Plum I. While the flood tide was running hard, we stuck to the Porgy fishing and then moved off to the deeper drops to cash in on some nice sized Sea Bass. A boat limit was achieved with 11 y/o Kennedy taking the top 3# biscuit for the day!

Sunday was supposed to be a full 4-man crew but sadly 2 anglers dropped out last minute. Too bad for them as Jeremy and celebrity Chef Nader enjoyed steady action on our trip to Montauk. Started out just off the lighthouse for the end of the ebb and quickly picked up 2 smallish keeper Fluke among 4 other shorts. As the tide backed off and the birds took over it was time to continue the hunt on the south side drops.

First stop in 66’ that produced most of our action 2 weeks ago was loaded with mostly sub legal Sea Bass. We did cull a couple of biscuits for the box but this was not the place for a Fluke bite yesterday. Moved further south to 75’ and set of numbers that has produced 3 DD‘s for me in the last 2 seasons. Although we never did reach that level the Fluke bite was pretty steady here along with a nicer class of Sea Bass. Spent the next 3 hours working this piece hard and the box kept filling up nicely. Came within 3 fish of a limit on Fluke here, with Jeremy taking top honors with a pretty 6.1# specimen and Nader close behind with a fat 5# fish. Needed the last hour to filet the fish so we hit one last set of numbers a little further south and wound up coming within 1 fish of our Fluke limit and filling out the Sea Bass quota. A very enjoyable day indeed in some fine weather.

Had an unexpected cancellation for next weekend so I am wide open for 8/15,16. Just give me a call if you want to cash in on some fine summer action.

what a difference a day makes ..so much less boat traffic today made for a good bite..took our good luck charm Rebecca with us & had great action on keeper size fluke to 5lbs ...9 keepers all but one over 3.5 lbs & just a couple of jumbo BSB..
