Post your 2019-2024 Fluke Pix & Trip Reports Here!

Headed out to my offshore office yesterday with Capt. Mike. A gorgeous but generally slow day, with Mike putting some real quality in the box. A 4.5, 5, and 6 for him. Kudos!

Me? Two 15lb smooth doggies that ran off drag like big bluefish and a couple of 19" "throwbacks." Did have two on that I felt were in the "Mike-class," but both spit the hook after brief fights. One of those days for me. A waaay better day for Mike, of course!

I think this might be about it for the exhausting 2024 fluke season, though in truth I never say never. Probably next up will be heading to Greenport to fish on Mike's boat for his famous deep sea bassing. Gonna give true slow-pitch jigging a good shot - which Mike tells me works exceptionally well out there for the sumo-biscuits. Not gonna lie, a little worn out by the captaining thing. I definitely can use the stress relief.

Nice
Clearly 3 different fish based by the multiple “outfits” displayed in each picture as the day got warmer 😎

At this point in my life it's about running up the the boat's score, not so much any particular individual's results, let alone mine.

While I have caught larger individual Fluke in the past, both on Lep's boat and my own vessel, yesterday was the second-best Fluke Day I can recall in my entire life when it comes to consistently landing multiple large fish myself!

Many thanks to Lep for putting us on the fish!

My son decided to come home this weekend from college to get a few things done. Plus he figured dad might give him on last shot at fluke before curriculum took all his time. Hell, I wanted a crack at the title after our last outings. Off we went this morning and after speaking with my BIL we netted a full live well of peanuts. Thoughts were to get out side but saw a few locals inside so stuck around for the last of the out. Good thing we did. The kid limited again with a nice brace of fluke. Damn good he was!! And all fish were on the peanuts.

Lastly tried the flat ocean for zero fluke but while he bounced fluke jigs I played with a 60 gram jig and was pleasantly surprised by quite a few sea bass without bait! I like this jig thing! I see more of this in my future.

And a big “thank you” to Lep for his filleting prowess. I do take notes!

Well, that's it for this disappointing fluke season for the crew of the Leprechaun. Tough fishing throughout, best fish was probably Capt. Mike's 6lber. No 7's this season. I guess all of us had a fish in the high 5lb class, so that's the way this cookie crumbled.

Pulled all the fluke gear off the boat this weekend and loaded on the extra sinkers and other blackfishing paraphernalia, including the second anchor set up. Damn, that stuff gets heavier every season. I certainly hope the 2024 local tog scene is better than it was last year, which was borderline abysmal. Started off gangbusters and went backwards from there. Hmmm, sound like our '24 fluke season. An ominous omen? I hope not.

Just got caught up with this thread - 2024 was definitely a weird fluke season in NJ, made plenty of trips to NY and some of the SS bays hit the lottery this year...everywhere else, not so much. The Captree/Moriches for hire fleets are happy, they pushed for the 19.5" increase in exchange for the longer season and it paid off bigly - literally - from May through October.

Here's a recap of my (mostly) shorebound season -

Great video I enjoyed it thoroughly except watching you netting that fluke from the pier with that long net. That would give me anxiety.lol
Thanks Rog
