I was supposed to get out around 3 and fish from the boat, but my +1 cancelled at the last minute last night! Ok, so I wake up and the fog is pretty thick. I drive down to the bay in my wife's truck and the bay is socked in. Back to the house bummed out, so I disconnected the boat and grabbed the surf rod and took a drive out. Further out east, the fog was not over the water. Oh well, safety first, plus I would have been alone. Stopped at my usually reliable bay spot. Tide was good, wind had the water churned up a bit, not dirty, just "rough" enough to move some bait around. Problem - no bait at all. Not even little splashes along the shore line. Stayed a bit for not even a bump. Aggravated, I made my way further east and poked around for a bit for absolutely nothing but casting practice. This week into next have traditionally been really good weeks for at least me and one of my surf buddies. Prior couple of years, some solid night surf action with fish into the 20's capped off by my buddy's 40 last year. Actually conversed with him yesterday, and really slow for him and some guys in his network. Doesn't mean they are not there, just means we can't find them or when they like to eat.
