Record price set for a BFT

In an event that tales place every year at the Toyosu Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan, this years ceremonial BFT sale hit 3.2 million for a 535 pound fish. This is a record, but does not represent the market rate for BFT. It is largely ceremonial, and a publicly stunt by Sushi Zanmai's Kiyoshi Kimura to attract customers to the restaurant.

I wonder what they charge for the sushi from that fish.

I also wonder how many customers are told it's the sushi from that fish.
Yes, the customers will most definitely know they are eating the most expensive BFT ever sold at market.

Artificial Intelligence has this to say about it………

How They Charge:
  • Exclusive Servings: They don't sell the whole tuna; they cut it into sashimi and sushi pieces.
  • Premium Pricing: Expect extremely high prices per order (e.g., a few slices of fatty tuna could cost $50-$100+) or as part of an expensive tasting menu (omakase).
  • Brand Value: The $3.2M is marketing; the actual profit comes from selling tiny portions at exorbitant prices to loyal, affluent customers who want the "best".
In essence, you're paying for the experience and story as much as the fish itself.
