Right decision

I met up with Frank Sr, with the plan of bass fishing and trying for fluke. Being undecided of what to do first, we opted to go bass fishing. We had a few hours of the last of the outgoing tide. Didn’t take long and had a fish on, we spent the next two hours boating 10 bass trolling only one rod. Out of the 10 fish only one was under slot we had two slot fish, and seven over slot in the range of 32” to 40”. I know bass sometimes will smack there pray with there tails in a attempt to cripple there pray.Well let me tell you I never thought I would get spooled by a bass this husky 37” fish had one of my Shad’s in his tail, and he put his guns to work. It was pretty comical us to old guys I’m telling Frank he’s taking all the line backup finally we boated him. Tide ended and so did the bass. Moved on to the fluke grounds very slow managed 8 fish all the same size between 16” to 18”. Called it a day and back to the dock about 1.30. Mr legend will sleep well tonight he’s got 27 years on me and I’m tied god bless him.

Excellent work, guys! As usual, Frank Sr. has them "dialed in"!!

So I'm live lining bunker near the shore a few years ago. There's a big splash and my line takes off. I set the hook (pre-circle hook rules). With nowhere to dive, the bass heads straight out and I can't stop this fish. I'm afraid I'm going to get spooled and the bass hasn't even paused. I'm looking around, because it seems more like a passing boat snagged me than a striped bass. I wonder if this is what 50's are like? Finally it stops and surfaces. Gee, I think, it must be really far away, because this fish doesn't look that much larger than normal. Finally, I net the fish, and see that it was hooked behind the dorsal fin.

I hate it when that happens!
