RING Doorbell/Home security

Cars and people walking in the street set it off, quick adjustment of my zone eliminated that. Now if you step on my lawn within the zone it will go off.

Koz - wouldn't you want it to be able to film the street? At least curbside?

I would think you'd want to be able to capture a license plate on a vehicle at the curb. In the event you are burgled the ability to photograph a vehicle license plate would go a long way to capturing the culprits. Otherwise all you have is a nice picture of the guy that broke in but no way to track him down.

That happened at my brother's place in Nissequogue. Someone broke in took some stuff. When the police showed up to take the report they asked for the footage. When they noticed there was no camera focused on the driveway (only way up to the house - he's on 3 acres & far off the street) he was told that likelihood of getting the guys that broke in was pretty much non existent. "What you have is a nice picture of who did it but we don't know who it is or where to find them" he was told.

He's now got one on the driveway.

I don't want to get a notification every time a car or person goes down my street. I live on a dead end and there would still be 50-80 cars a day going by. My neighborhood is a nice 'walking neighborhood'. (several dead ends cross connected) That would be another 50-100 notifications a day.

It would be very annoying to get that many notifications. The camera quality is not good enough to distinguish a license plate at that distance. Make, color, and model is all it would provide. Can't capture a license plate from a side view of a vehicle anyway.

I am thinking of adding a camera in my driveway. If I do that will be positioned so it can cover the whole driveway clearly, not the street.

Just caught the Amazon delivery guy playing toss with my package!

Unbeknownst to me my railing is apparently a hot spot for the local wildlife

At least I know my motion settings are good. No false alarms today. Crappy delivery guy and critters close up is all.

I am thinking of rating my Amazon deliveries in my reviews when they ask how was delivery.
