RIP Good friend

It is with a heavy heart that I report the loss of a great friend, and fantastic fisherman, Bob Santiago. Bobby passed away suddenly this past Tuesday.

I first met Bob almost 40 years ago as a teenager fishing the Peconic during the classic weakfish runs of the 80's. He took me under his wing and used to introduce me as his nephew, even though we couldn't have looked more different.
He was a fixture in the Peconics, Montauk, the Northfork, and his home turf of Moriches.
Many of you might remember him from the old days of Edelman's, and more recently as a long time employee of J&H.
He was one of the most generous people I have ever met, and was always more than happy to share his vast knowledge of both fishing spots and tackle.
Bob was truly a bottom fisherman extraordinaire, pounding on the flounders starting in February and finishing with tog in the late fall...….but earned his nickname Porgy Bob as he really worked over the scup the balance of the year.
I will miss our weekly chats and our trips together, which unfortunately became less frequent over the years. And I will miss him terribly.
I wish I could have one more tide with him.

I look forward to reading the comments of all that knew him, and sharing those memories.

Rest in peace Bobby.

Your friend,
Patrick "Little Mac"

Bob was awesome. The old guard from J&H, Him, Shep, Dom, Joe, Craig, Neil and Tommy. Many of us would go down there to hang out.. some would play dollar games, bring food and drink, lol, it was a great time. I'd bring my dog, who would always manage to step on Bob's tender feet!

He will be missed!
