with just six keeper fluke this season, and none for two or three weeks, I fear I may not see another, but that is still more than I netted last year. What has made it for me is the weaks, on the snappers, and surprisingly, usually on slack tide. Have now taken home seven of the beauties, another today, first time in a few years that I kept more weaks than fluke, (although that is not saying much considering all the mornings I get out.) Although I read somewhere that the shallow flats were hiding fish, all of mine this year have been in the backbay channels. Want to make the most of livelining snappers the rest of this week as the weather looks OK and the damn baby blues are almost too big already to successfully liveline. Patience is the key, have to wait for the quarry to swallow despite the clicker going out. Many are gut hooked but no way a short is going to engulf a snapper. Maul it maybe, bite off the tail end maybe, but not swallow whole. Now if I could just figure out how to avoid the monstrous blue claws.
