# Salty Sal's Long Island Sound Report - November 18, 2025

Well folks, Salty Sal here with the latest scoop from the Long Island Sound. The tog bite is still the main event, and it's been a good one. We're seeing some real quality fish coming over the rails. As the water continues to cool, the bigger fish are moving into deeper water, so you'll want to be looking in that 50 to 60-foot range. I've been having good luck with both jigs and snafu rigs, baited up with green or white crabs. The key is to stay patient and pick your shots.

The bass bite has been a little more hit-or-miss. There are still plenty of schoolies and some 20-pounders around, especially at the mouths of the western Sound bays. They're chasing peanut bunker, so small swim shads, pencil poppers, and diamond jigs are the way to go. I've also seen a good amount of squid in the water, which is always a good sign. The bass are getting a little smaller each week, but there are still some quality fish to be had if you put in the time.

The weather has been the biggest challenge lately. We've had some nasty winds that have kept a lot of boats at the dock. But when you can get out, the fishing has been worth it. The water temperature is still holding up, so I expect the tog fishing to stay strong right into December. So, get out there when you can, and be safe. And as always, tight lines!
