Went out at high tide out of Jones inlet (9:30 AM) . Beautiful, calm day going out with the east breeze. Prior to getting out of the inlet I was interrupted by the coast guard and a DEC officer. Nassau police were there also. They were checking almost every boat going out or coming in from the inlet. They completely went through the entire vessel. Unfortunately, they gave me 2 tickets for only having one fire extinguisher on board (26 feet +) require 2. Also, they couldn't read my oil discharge plaque because it was faded from the sun so another ticket. Anyway, after the brief interruption we trolled along the beach with several other boats from 40 feet to 20 feet without a touch. We stooped at a few areas where we were marking fish and used diamond jigs and caught dog fish non-stop. A lot different then last weekend as we didn't see any bunker or whales around. Lots of boats at the reefs but I didn't hear of to much. In at 2:30 pm and went to the local boat store for another extinguisher and plaque. Hopefully, I will get out of any fines by showing the receipts for the extinguisher and plaque. 2 more weeks and it's a wrap for me.
