Got out In Shinnecock Bay with "Pistol" Pete Kelly in search of stripers close to home. Conditions didn't allow a launch at Montauk but we were not disappointed. Between us we had over 55 fish, 54 of them bass. The biggest was only about 32" for both me and Pete, but the action was non-stop on swimming plugs.
The second and third hours of the outgoing seemed to be the prime time. Go catch 'em up. We got ours on Crystal Minnows trolled slow in the flats of the western part of the bay.
Tonight Misfit Kayak Fishing Team will be in full effect at the Three Belles Trifecta Kayak Fishing Tournament in Niantic CT. Hopefully, our next post is a report from LI Sound of a healthy striped bass or two. Me, Pete, Alan Martin (our backwater expert) and his protege Ian Martin...
(Not sure why he's still on the team ??)... will all be out on the water tonight trying to locate more stripers
. Report to follow.
