Shore Jigging

My cousin jigging up a limit from shore...meanwhile I'm still stuck in freshwater mode :)

1/2oz jighead, 5" gulp grubs...all you need day in/day out for land-based flatties!

Very nice video, with lots of good info, if you watch closely. Is that breakwater somewhere in Jersey, as I don’t recognize the locale as anywhere I know of on Long Island.

Thanks Lep!

Yes, NJ, both spots get absolutely mobbed on the weekends (as you can imagine). Contrary to conventional wisdom, incoming was the biting tide...the warmer outgoing water actually shut them down.

3 days prior to the filming of this video, live killies were outfishing gulp 10:1...the reverse was true on this day, but you had to jig slow.

Thanks for posting Roger, your cousin proved that skiff + spearing is a waste of $$$. As you know we've been fishing the same stretch by boat (further down-river) and doing well. We did really well on Tuesday morning, last hour of the incoming was good, however first hour of out-going was best. But we've noted that Spearing on 1/2 oz jighead has been outfishing the Gulp. I took your advice and stopped using the top teaser - only difference is I've been getting more/bigger keepers (y) And that switch-blade telescoping net is too cool :D

Thanks Larry! The biggest fluke of my life was caught there in the mid 90s, on a 1/4oz jighead tipped with one of my last dead killes...I remember the killie was tiny...

My cousin is a very proactive shore fluker...he'll hit several spots depending on tide/bites, get in his car and drive to another inlet etc. I don't usually make an appearance until he's figured it out, bc I am an extremely lazy shore angler lol.
