she may be smiling, but before the OPEC oil embargo, gas was about 35 cents a gallon and folks lost their sh*t when the price first went towards 50 cents around 1973-74!

I remember two stations in Brentwood that got into a price war. Price was down to 23 cents a gallon as I recall, Late '60's/early '70's

Does anyone remember the little white throwable caps?
They kind of looked like sperm lol...twisted paper with a small charge in the head,
When it hit the ground it would set up friction or a spark, which would explode and create a loud cracking sound.

I cannot for the life of me figure out the Google keywords.

My equivalent was throwing a perfectly aimed snowball at my sister's head from about 15 yards, she expertly avoided it and smacked her forehead directly on to the mailbox in front of her.

She had the largest egg shaped swelling in the middle of her forehead you've ever seen, for about a week.
