><)))):> SIMPLE DAYS GONE BY GROWING UP,,WAS GREAT BACK THEN <:))))><

No relevant pictures to be found, but these are some memories from growing up in Long Island City in the 50’s:

The Knife sharpening man lugging around his honing stone apparatus while ringing a bell.

The vegetable man’s truck once or twice a week.

The Fish man’s truck on Friday’s. Surprise, surprise.

And hard to believe, the Junk Man’s horse drawn carriage once in a while.
WoW, I was raised in Bensonhurst, I remember those too, knife man, ding, ding ding... cellie...

I still see that now, to a certain extent, hate it. :( If my Father had ever seen me do that there would have been a conversation and I would have been barefoot.

I grew up with my dad driving a '64 Ford Country Sedan station wagon. It had a bronze plaque on the dash with a prayer that has stuck with me to this day. I'm pretty good at searching but was unable to find it ...... anyone know what I'm referring to ?
