Skinny Water Fluke to 7.2 lbs

Today we had Ken and his group for a skinny water fluke fishing trip. We were met with a harder than predicted west wind ( what a surprise) and warm water 78 degrees even with incoming tide. Had a few shorts but it was not what we were looking for.

Made a move and found some cooler water and had a steady pick of shorts and keepers which was only enabled by the Minn kota instinct trolling motor which helped us slow down the drift to manageable conditions.

After that dried up we hit another area which my son and I had some real quality fish the day before and it was lock and load BUT it was only short fluke from 12-17 inches.

Couldn’t get past the shorts so threw a up a Hail Mary since the area I wanted to go was also hot brown bay water and the group was rewarded topping off their catch with a 4.8 lb, 6.1 lb and an even more impressive 7.2 lb moriches bay summer flounder. ( Our biggest of the summer so far)

Thanks again guys for sticking it out with the tough conditions.

Big shoutout to @livebait_li for the live baits. They were more than accommodating to meet and drop off at the time I needed.

Limited availability for the remainder of summer flounder season.

Please inquire about any upcoming spilt trips if you can’t find 4 people to go.
