Went over to SW Ledge yesterday afternoon in calm seas with a bit of a swell. Plenty of action on the high spots with small sea bass. Only one keeper of about 17 inches. Lots of boats. Didn't want to make the run to the windmills. Wasn't worth running over to the Ledge for this. Then headed to the South Side of the Point to look for surface action. Nothing doing. Did a couple of drifts for fluke. Only one very small sea bass for the trouble. The Lazybones and the Viking Star were there too. Water seemed clear enough a couple of days after the wind stopped blowing. I expected a lot better. Heading for the barn, lots of the fly boys were hanging right at the Point, but no birds or fish were working. Same thing passing by Shagwong and the Montauk Entrance Buoy. Still, nice to get out on a nice sea after all this lousy wind.
