Slow start ending in great day

Bucktail II

Angler
Fished Saturday with my good friends John and Danny. The idea was to bass fish in the morning and then hit a few drops for Blackfish later in the day. Finding the bunker was easy as I headed west out of the inlet. Stopped here and there making my way west. Managed only one bass early in the day which came unbuttoned at the boat. By this time we were only 3/4 mile from Debs. Steamed back to the east in beautiful seas., staying in 28-30' of water. Found another large area of bunker west of the Hotel fleet and set up a drift.....it was 2pm now and the tide was easing off. Right away I had a nice slot fish at 31". The drift had changed and we didn't drift the way I anticipated. Ran back up and had the bass pushing the bunker pretty regular on the surface. Ran to the south of them and could read the bass just on the fringe. Dropped down the baits and we were in..... Ended the day with about a dozen or so fish to 40+ pounds all safely revived and released and the one slot fish for dinner. Greta day on the water with even better friends.
