# South Shore Sam's Bay & Inlet Report - October 28, 2025
Folks, the sand eel invasion is in full effect, and it has ignited the South Shore bite in a big way. The morning blitzes have been a sight to behold, and there are fish of all sizes to be had, from schoolies to cows. Here's what I'm seeing from the bays and inlets out to the beach.
**The Bass Bonanza**
The bass fishing is off the hook right now. The October new moon brought in a wave of quality fish, and we're seeing bass from the high teens to over 30 pounds. The night owls are being rewarded with some real slobs in the 40-inch class. The key has been to find the bait, and right now, that means sand eels. The daytime bite has been fantastic, with diamond jigs, bucktails, and poppers all producing. After dark, it's all about the needlefish and darters.
**Blackfish**
The tog bite has been steady, with plenty of shorts and keepers up to 6 pounds being reported. The Gypsea out of Brooklyn has been on a good bite, with fish to 7 pounds. As the water cools, the bite should only get better.
**The Hot Spots**
- **Captree:** The fleet is on a tear, with a mix of stripers, blackfish, porgies, and even a few bonito and albies still in the mix.
- **Brooklyn:** The Gypsea is finding good action on both blackfish and stripers.
- **The Beaches:** The sand eel blitzes are happening all along the South Shore. Look for the birds, and you'll find the fish.
**The Takeaway**
Get out there and get in on the action! The fall run is in full swing, and there's no better time to be on the water. Whether you're a surfcaster or a boat guy, there are fish to be had. Just remember to be respectful of your fellow anglers and the resource.
Tight lines,
South Shore Sam
