Suggestions on factory Tog rod

95% of my Togging is with a spinner and jig, I need a good conventional that can handle 8oz-10oz sinkers. I am covered for less than that.
any suggestions would be appreciated . I don’t really want to go custom because of how little I do that type of fishing . I have a lami 7020 Triflex that was cut back 1 1/2 inches at the tip ,which is stout enough, but I prefer a longer butt.
thanks

I don't own any factory tog rods in conventional so cant be much help there. All my conventional set ups are custom.Jigging world in Jersey has a nice selection of rack rods rods as well as Trophy tackle in Babylon and J and H in Oakdale Long Island.Im sure Lep and others will chime in but you definitely could find a nice off the shelf rod at any of those shops.

I like this one. :)

Maybe look at the many lines of rods at Jigging World - "Tackle World" now. They seem to get real good reviews all over the Interwebs. JW has a rod line that is specifically built to catch blackfish. I think it is called "Black Demon," or something along those lines.

You mentioned wanting a longer butt, so though the Lamiglas BL7030 may well still be in production - and has always been the factory-built gold standard for heavier sinker togging - it does not have a longer than usual butt grip.

Maybe you should look at the new Shimano Trevala PX and Grappler lines? I haven't seen the Trevala PX rods yet, but the Grapplers are truly nice pieces, at around 2/3 the price of even a basic custom.

But, are you sure you don't want to go with a custom? Short of going with a factory slow-pitch rod, its gonna be tough to find a factory rod with a butt length of more than 15" or so. I myself have trended towards longer butts, on both my tog and fluke rods. I greatly prefer putting the longer butt under my arm while cupping the reel with my other hand. That's also why I prefer low-pro baitcasters - they palm sooo nice.

Like Rob and Pete already said Tackleworld in Jersey the Nexus XH should be good. On Long Island can go wrong with Trophy Tackle John has a great shop.
What spinning blanks are you using for Tog?

Yeah, J&H and Tackle World is where I probably would go.,my friend likes his black demon for trophies in OCM and Rhodey. As far as spinning goes , I still use a Trevala S which I like a lot for shallow drops with anything under 1oz. 90% of the time I fish a 3/4 jig, sometimes 1/2 at slack . I am probably going to treat myself this winter to a new build spinning. I want to give these blanks a serious look .....BH 701 L, CTS, and Phenix. I really prefer rods on the lighter side. I think I saw a thread that mentioned that you have a CTS you use for Tog w/jig right??

Cts are great blanks. I have the bj700L that would be very nice as a spinner and I know a friend really likes the bj700xl. I use my cts bj701 as a conventional and love it.

My Jigging World Nexus 7’ XH has served me quite well this Tog season. It’s nice and light at 7.2 oz with plenty of backbone. 8 and 10 oz sinkers are no problem. Its a nice value for short money at $140.

Sorry it was tackledirect.com. Avet sxj g2 5.3 mc and was a shimano trevala jigging rod 6’6”. I used 8-10 ounce sinkers this year and was catching blackfish no problem. Highly recommend the set up. Just a FYI tackledirect has the avet reel cheaper then I got it for If you want to know exact shimano rod I can take a pic of it later just let me know

I have an Avet SX5.3:1 G2 on a Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod 6'6" Model TVC-66MH that I use for jigging bass and I'll use it when hitting the wreaks for BSB and Porgies. Love this set up.
My tog rod, I just bought this past summer was a slighty used custom built by Capt Richie and I paired it with a Daiwa Saltist 20H. It handled 16oz no problem and you can still feel the nibble and the rod tip react with no issues.

Snapper head - Thanks for clearing up the model of trevala. I recommend that set up to everyone Killed the bass in montauk and the south shore run this year and set up handled everything no issues. and like you said seabass and blackfish feel every nipple. Such a good diverse rod and reel

What blank was that used custom. At some point I am going to go see Capt Richie ,probably for a spinning build for Tog for jigs though.

That Trevala has to be a lot sensitive than any I own. Mine has never felt a sea bass or blackfish nipple. As far as I know anyways. ?
