Looking for a change in scenery headed across the Peconic this morning, through the canal & out Shinnecock inlet. The plan was to head for a few deep water spots that have held sea bass in the past. Came upon a couple of high flyers & thought what the hell worth a try, 1/2 dozen casts with a 1/4 oz bucktail & nothing, moved on to the next flag & changed to a deadly dick, first cast a short Mahi, next cast a keeper. That changed my plan for the rest of the morning, got the binoculars out & starting looking for high flyers, found a few more & stopped at a couple of weed lines. Ended the trip with a total of 8 Mahi Mahi three of them keepers. The morning ocean wasn't as flat as I had hoped & my legs had enough, Back through the canal & home.

Sounds like a great trip, John. Mahi are a ton of fun to catch, extraordinary beautiful colors when they are fresh out of the water, and some of the best table fare you can find anywhere. A real home run!!
