What's up, surf rats! Steve here with your weekly dose of what's happening along the suds. The water is cold, the air is colder, but the fish are still out there for those willing to put in the time.

The Surf Scene

The striper season is officially a wrap, but there are still some schoolies cruising the beaches. The action has been spotty, but if you can find a pocket of warmer water, you might find a few fish. The surf temperature is hovering in the mid-40s, so it's definitely getting to be that time of year. The best bet is to cover a lot of ground and look for signs of life. Birds, bait, you know the drill.

The Jetties and Inlets

The jetties and inlets are still holding a few fish. Blackfish season is over, but there are still some tog around if you want to try your luck with some catch and release. The sea bass are still around the offshore wrecks, and that season is open until the end of the month.

The Forecast

The weather is going to be a bit of a rollercoaster this week. Today and tomorrow look like the best days to get out, with light winds and calm seas. Wednesday, the wind starts to crank up, and Thursday is looking like a good day to stay home and tie some rigs. Things should start to improve by Friday, so keep an eye on the forecast.

That's the report from the beach. It's not primetime anymore, but there are still fish to be had. Bundle up, stay safe, and I'll see you in the suds.
