What's up, surf rats! Surf City Steve here with your final beach report of the season. The party's over, folks. The striper season officially ended on December 15th, and the beaches are pretty much a ghost town. But for those of us who live for the salt and the sand, there's always something to do.

Robert Moses to Fire Island

The west end is quiet. The fall run was epic, but it's a wrap. The water is cold, the bait is gone, and the bass have skedaddled. You might find a few stragglers if you're willing to put in the time, but it's a long shot. It's time to hang up the waders and start dreaming of the spring run.

Fire Island to Moriches

The central beaches are just as quiet. The sand is empty, and the only tracks you'll see are from the seagulls. The offshore wrecks are where the action is, with the sea bass bite still going strong. But that's a boat game, and we're surf guys. So for us, it's time to take a break.

Moriches to Shinnecock

The east end is the same story. The beaches are barren, and the surf is cold and empty. The big bass that were here a few weeks ago are long gone. It's a beautiful time of year to be on the beach, but don't expect to be catching much. It's a time for reflection and planning for next year.

The Takeaway

So that's it for 2025. It was a great season, with plenty of fish and good times. I want to thank all of you for following along. I'll be back in the spring with more reports. Until then, stay salty, my friends.
